Karndean - LooseLay Longboard - Vinyl
There's something quietly impressive about a floor that looks this good and installs this easily. The Karndean LooseLay Longboard is a luxury vinyl plank collection built around an extra-long 1500mm x 250mm plank format that gives any room a spacious, flowing character. Offered in 20 wood-inspired designs spanning Australian native species, European oaks and beyond, the range brings a genuinely broad palette to the table, from warm golden blondes and earthy spotted gums to cooler greyed neutrals and soft bleached tones. At Domain Flooring, we stock Karndean alongside a wide selection of luxury vinyl from leading brands, and the LooseLay Longboard remains one of the most talked-about products in the category.
Each plank is constructed with a high-definition photographic layer that Karndean describes as giving the floor its highly realistic and natural appearance, topped with a 0.55mm clear PVC embossed wear layer for day-to-day durability. Over the top sits the K-Guard+® surface protection system, which uses PU technology to deliver what Karndean calls a hygienic and durable finish. The product is 4.5mm in total thickness with a fibreglass-enhanced stability layer to keep the planks flat and level, and the K-Wave® friction grip backing integrated into the underside. With no bevelled edge, the planks sit together cleanly for a smooth, continuous look across the floor. The range covers 20 colourways, so there is genuine variety to explore. Visiting the Domain Flooring showroom in Carnegie is the best way to see the samples in person and assess how the colour, tone and texture will read in your own space.
Karndean describes the LooseLay Longboard as water-resistant, stating the floor won't swell, crack or warp when wet. The K-Wave® friction grip backing holds the floor in place through weight and friction alone, eliminating the need for full-spread adhesive and allowing individual planks to be lifted and replaced if needed. Karndean also states the K-Wave® backing helps absorb sound, reducing noise transfer to lower floors, a useful quality in multi-level homes and apartments. The product is compatible with underfloor heating systems up to 27°C according to the manufacturer. Karndean describes the range as a suitable choice for busy family homes, noting that the floors provide a safe, comfortable surface for children and an easy-to-clean option for parents.
The LooseLay Longboard carries a lifetime residential warranty, and where the floor is purchased through a Karndean Retail Partner, that warranty is transferable to the next owner should the property be sold. The commercial warranty is 15 years. Karndean publishes full warranty terms in its Consumer Warranty Guide, which should be reviewed before purchase. For day-to-day care, Karndean states that a sweep and regular mop with Karndean Clean is all that is needed to keep the floor looking its best. Installation must follow Karndean's published Loose Lay Installation Guidelines; the product can be laid over most existing hard floors without adhesive.
