Preference Floors - Aquastop (Kronoswiss) - Laminate

Preference Floors — Aquastop — Laminate Flooring

Produced by the Swiss Krono Group, one of the world's largest laminate manufacturers, Aquastop is a collection designed with everyday life in mind. Its signature feature is the Aquastop moisture inhibition technology, which is engineered to resist topical liquid spills, water and pet accidents for up to 48 hours in the 8mm and 12mm variants, and up to 72 hours in the 14mm variant. Available in three thicknesses and a broad range of Australian timber and contemporary European oak colourways, Aquastop brings Swiss precision and practical performance together in a single floor.

The range is built on a High-Density Fibreboard core with the Aquastop treatment integrated into the structure, topped with a high resistance overlay and realistic embossed surface. All three variants are rated AC5 / Cl. 33, the highest AC rating on the standard scale, and include a V4 Micro Bevel profile. The 8mm plank measures 1380 x 193mm; the 12mm plank is offered in 1380 x 193mm for most colourways and 1845 x 193mm for the Blackbutt and Spotted Gum decors; and the 14mm plank measures 2025 x 244mm. Colourways span 23 options across the three ranges, including the exclusive Australian timber decors Blackbutt and Spotted Gum. The Domain Flooring showroom in Carnegie carries Preference Floors products, so customers are welcome to visit and assess colour, surface texture and plank scale in person before committing.

Installation uses the Patented Välinge 5G click system, which the manufacturer describes as easy to install. The product is confirmed suitable for in-slab hydronic heating. The manufacturer explicitly states the product is child and pet friendly and suitable for residential and commercial applications including kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, dining areas, offices, hotels and retail spaces. The product is anti-static and colourfast. Please note: while Aquastop is engineered for moisture resistance, the manufacturer clearly states it is not waterproof and that excessive wetting must be avoided. For wet areas such as bathrooms and laundries, the manufacturer advises checking local Building Code requirements and specific installation guidance. Steam mops and electric mops must not be used.

All three variants carry a 35-year limited structural warranty and a 5-year limited commercial warranty. Maintenance is straightforward: regular vacuuming or damp mopping using a pH neutral cleaner such as Bona is recommended. The manufacturer notes there is no need to wax or polish, and that abrasive cleaners and scouring pads must be avoided.

Best suited to: Kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, office spaces, hotels, retail stores and corridors, as explicitly stated by the manufacturer. Suitable for residential and commercial applications and all internal areas.
